This engraving is copied from an original Stevens Model 54 "Special Schuetzen" rifle, which is the highest standard grade rifle built by Stevens. The top and sides of the frame are almost completely covered with engraving.
The engraving is done by Ken Burklow and is available with case colored, metalife and silver plated finish, though we recommend case coloring since that is traditional for the Stevens 44 1/2 and the depth of this engraving means it shows up well through the case colors. The center "eye" is normally blank but your initials can be engraved for a modest charge as shown in this example.
